2015 – London, UK
For the occasion of Shubbak Festival and with the support of Dubai Design District (d3) and Abu Dhabi Festival, Khalid Shafar presented THE NOMAD installation in the British capital in the iconic surroundings of the Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground at Chelsea College.
THE NOMAD is a contemporary architectural reinterpretation of the Arish – a traditional old Gulf house made from palm trees and fronds. Using similar modular building techniques, Khalid offers a new outdoor design which functions both as a social space and a sculptural installation.
‘THE NOMAD’ invites to sit, meet, converse, study and relax.
