    Object: Hall Table, 2010, prototype
    Description: Maple & jarrah wood, brass ring, leather sack | Dimensions: 120 x 24.5 x 92 cm

Cheese was always my dessert when I would travel on long flights or dine in fine-dining restaurants. Once when visiting my family on the Gold Coast of Australia, we went to a “proper” restaurant called Glass. While going through the dessert menu, I found an inspirational quote: “A dinner which ends without cheese is like a beautiful woman with only one eye” – Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826). This was the day when the Edam hall table was born. A table inspired by cheese. It’s very interesting how and from where a designer gets inspiration. Edamis built with Maple and uses Jarrah to represent the protective coat of red wax on a slice of Edam. The leather sack is the decorative element of this object and serves as a drawer for small items like keys. Edam is the best welcome in the reception area of any home. It fits quirky and uniquely designed interior spaces. Edam is the first of my cheese platter that includes Brie, Blue, and Cheddar. As Jean-Anthelme said about cheese, for me ‘A house without a piece of Edam is like a dessert menu without a cheese board’.
