Est. 2010

A simple apple falling from a tree was the beginning of much thinking and research that gave Newton the formula for the law of gravity. A KHALID SHAFAR object is conceived in the same way – sparked by a moment of inspiration and developed through a process of applied creativity, practicality, and functionality – until a design is formulated. Each object is the outcome of many experiments. Each object has its own journey and tale to tell. This is the essential tale of the KHALID SHAFAR brand.

Launched in Dec 2010, KHALID SHAFAR is a Dubai-based brand that creates quirky interior space objects out of stories.

Each KHALID SHAFAR object is a simple design story that is richly detailed. Simple yet avant-garde – a revival of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s sleek styling, re-interpreted with today’s furnishing trends. Designed to fit individualistic interior spaces, they are fueled with the energy and passion of the designer’s own lifestyle and life stories.

Each object is designed by Khalid Shafar, handmade by chosen craftsmen and decorated with quirky accessories. Mysterious elements in each object start the storytelling. Many of these objects are created to function in one way, then re-function in another – to serve many purposes and spaces.

Creativity, practicality, and functionality are the core elements of the design stories told.

CREATIVITY is the uniqueness and individuality of an object. Each object reflects a quirky design to fit a particular space. Simple lines mixed with rich detail and fine materials are the hallmarks of a KHALID SHAFAR object.

PRACTICALITY makes objects useful for interior spaces and as part of a home’s furnishing. Our objects fit particular purposes and have their own clientele.

FUNCTIONALITY comes from a clear vision. KHALID SHAFAR objects serve a multitude of purposes and spaces. Many objects have been designed to function in more than one mood, depending on the tales they tell.
